School Hours
Student Instructional Day: 8:50 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
Buses Unload at 8:40 a.m.
Buses Depart by 4:00 p.m.
Late Bus Departs (Tuesdays and Thursday) at 4:45 p.m
*Students in the building beyond 4 p.m. will need to be in supervised situations such as school activities, tutoring, clubs, sporting events, etc.
Early Dismissal/Leaving School During the School Day
Parents, please note, it is necessary to come in to the main office, show identification, and sign your child out whenever taking him/her out of school during the school day. This safety precaution helps us protect the students for whom we are responsible. You are welcome to send a note ahead of time; however, your child will not be called down to the office until these procedures have been followed. Though this process may cause a slight inconvenience, the benefits of this procedure are obvious. Thanks for understanding.
Staying After School
There are many reasons why a student may want to stay after school. Some examples of after school activities involving students are as follows: club meetings, enrichments, library research, computer use, tutoring, homework or test completion, athletic or academic team practices or matches, and Loving Care childcare. A student who stays at school beyond the regular school day is to go directly to the assigned area and remain there until the time to depart for the late bus or parent transportation. When individuals or very small groups stay, they must have permission to do so from a teacher who plans to be with them. Students who do not follow this procedure will be sent home as soon as possible and may lose the privilege of staying after school.
Late Buses
On specified days (usually two days per week) announced in late August of each year, students who stay after school for work in the Media Center, extracurricular activities, clubs, athletic activities, tutoring, teacher consultations or for any other reason, may take advantage of late bus transportation. Late buses leave the New Augusta Public Academy at 4:45 p.m. and deliver students to bus stops within reasonable distances of their homes. Students must have a pass from their teacher or coach to get on the 4:30 late bus. On days of athletic practices, there is also a 6 pm late bus (for athletes only).
